I accidentally ended up running 8.4 miles with my friend K today. We meant to go for a really easy stroll because we're both (pretending) to train for the Detroit Half-Marathon that's coming up in... um, three weeks. CRAP! Anyway, we have yet to do a double digit run, or you know, actually run at all lately. Today was perfect running weather and we just kept running till we saw Whole Foods and decided vegan ice cream samples were just what we needed :) It should be noted that K is extremely fast and a running beast. She doesn't need a Camelbak, or iPod, or sweatshirt when we run in chilly weather. On the other hand, I am very, very slow, and I wear two long sleeve shirts, a jacket, a cap, sunglasses, AND my Camelbak when we run. Nerd alert! Anyway I have made K into the world's most undisciplined runner. In other words, every two feet I'm like: Can we rest now? Let's walk, please? And being the nice person she is, K acquiesces every time. Sorry. I suck.
And to make her niceness even more appalling when compared with my great big hole of suck, you know what she has gifted me with?
Homemade preserved peaches! HOME! MADE! SO GOOD. Which reminds me: I really want to make this
boozy fruits recipe from
NY Times.
Also, in regards to my fake half-marathon training, I really want to read Thrive Fitness, by vegan triathlete Brendan Brazier. I really like reading about OTHER people training for athletic events, and learning about how to eat to become a super athlete which, of course, is not going to happen in this lifetime for me. So. I guess this belongs in the fantasy portion of my bookcase. But still. I want this book. Time to get an Ann Arbor library card!
All right, I've got ONE MORE computer programming problem to get through then it's off to bed for me! I may go to sleep before two am? Yay!
xoxo t
