ALL ALONE ON THE MIDWEST FRONT

Grad school means a lot less time for pleasure reading, which explains my snail's pace for "American Pastoral." I wake up at 7 am and go to bed at 1 or 2 am :( I've gone through my 400 allotted free printing pages provided by the school, and I've only been in school for TWO WEEKS. How is this possible?

Here's some reading I've been doing for school. It's actually pretty interesting.

"Eat, Drink & Be Vegan" (EDV) is a cookbook I've wanted for a REALLY long time, and I've made a few recipes from it already. The cookies have been fantastic (like melt in your mouth, I ate an entire batch of oatmeal raisin cookies in a sitting, oops), but I didn't really like the flavoring of the soups I've made from it, but I don't know if this is because I substitute a lot or because of the combination of spices. Claire will help me decide when she gets here HALLOWEEN WEEKEND. Yes!!! As per tradition, Claire and I will be watching "Nightmare Before Christmas" and shit talking about life.

I also want to point out that the colorful book is called "Python for Informatics" and that it is available here for FREE use thanks to a Creative Commons copyright. The School of Information, appropriately enough, is ALL ABOUT information sharing and open resources. So check it out if you are interested in programming. The book is well-written and funny! Yes, funny! My professor, Charles Severance, wrote the book and he actually compared Python (a computing language) to Parsletongue on the first day of class. He also wore his doctorate robe. Heh. Dr. Chuck, as we call him, also produced this viral video on youtube. Note: it is a JOKE!!!

All right, I'm going to try to read as much "American Pastoral" as possible before I pass out.

currently listening to:
Janelle Monae
Has everyone seen her cover of "Smile"? You MUST. You must also listen to her album "The ArchAndroid." She is the cutest person ever. I love her dancing. I love her singing. So obsessed.
