There are some books that I can't read anymore (or even start) because I am no longer friends with the person that recommended the book or the book reminds me of some specific moment in time or a person and it seems silly or too nostalgic to bring up these days.
Sometimes it's difficult to pick up things and 'get over it' because reading books are often painful, detailed experiences in themselves, but pack them with sad, forlorn memories of the giver of the book, and you just might let those books gather dust for years and years.
I'm currently cleaning out my bookshelf and am surprised by how many of them are gifts from people I love(d). I'll probably make a trip to Friends of the Library for donations later on this week. Good grief, I'm actually sad about this.
