SCRAPS FOR BOOKMARKS

I used to think it's sacrilegious to use a non-bookmark for a bookmark. I'd see people on the train using the very receipt they got for purchasing the book to mark their place, and fight not to put on my Mother Theresa hat and offer them something sturdier, something more appropriate and more matchy. Yes, I have a Harry Potter bookmark for reading Harry Potter. One with a photograph of pointe shoes for anything performance arts related. A homemade laminated row of old stamps for travel books.

Lately though I've let more loose and acquired the following laying-around-the-house items as bookmarks:

1) A Victoria Secret's receipt from a purchase three weeks ago
2) MOMA Design Store colored-pencil promo card
3) Balthazaar's postcard I picked up in Soho
4) bicyclepaintings.com postcard from the Brooklyn Flea Market
5) Used Metro card
6) Logo used as a pattern lining for a packaging project in school. The fictitious skin care line was called Everything Wil Be AMAZING.

love,
C

I have bookmarks but can never find them! So I end up using receipts and postcards.
