WEEKLY ROUNDUP

Such exciting news, try not to shit your panties. I was on a mission to make my Szechuan Eggplant dish and went to Chinatown to get some tofu, oyster sauce & soy sauce and ran into this small grocery store that carried... TAMARIND CANDY! That's what the little sugar-coated brown droplets are. They are amazing, and I grew up on this stuff in Taiwan. (Note: there have been some cases that the Mexican manufacturer de la Rosa has had lead poisoning issues with their tamarind goodies... um, yeah.) Next to it is crystallized ginger candy, another fav. Aw, sweet childhood memories :)

And yes! Girl Scout cookie season is among us. I predict the three boxes will last about two days in our apartment. And Claire and I have broken so much of our glassware that we have started using old kimchee jars as wine glasses. It works well.

Some of my kids work (continued from last week):

This pacman was supposed to eat bad winters.

Ths pacman is eating mean. (Or is that meanness?) I guess it could be a metaphorical pacman.
Goodbye snow days!

S and I have a vidchat date on Monday to discuss "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter." I'm making slow but steady strides... it's actually gotten really interesting but I just can't get into the local dialect. The speech patterns of certain characters sound... forced? But maybe I need to do some research into what working class black folk in the South would have sounded like. I probably should.
