Because I can't stand movie adaptations*, and neither can Rushdie....

A film director once told Salman Rushdie that all movies made from novels are rubbish. With so many screenplays based on books triumphing at the Oscars this week and Slumdog Millionaire stealing the show, he asks is there such a thing as a good adaptation...

What about book -> TV adaptations? I saw an advert for Alexander McCall Smith's No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series getting picked up by HBO and BBC.

and gossip girls, too! i dont know. i think they were trashy in book form, so it doesnt matter either way, haha.
