CLOSING TIME

A travesty! Oakland's Parkway Theatre is closing due to shitty economic times. They do have a sister movie theatre in El Cerrito, The Cerrito. I don't even like watching movies but I loved this place. You could get pizza and beer delivered to your lounge chair while watching movies ($5 tickets!). Read the article here at the SF Gate.

In case you are in the area, you should check out The Grand Lake Theatre in downtown Oakland. It's known for its political messages on its marquee, free popcorn on weeknights and the lush decor. (You can find its marquee history at Grand Lake's flickr account.) I've yet to find a movie theatre (or even watch a movie haha) in New York, so I'm on the lookout.

In other Oakland news, shit is going down. Four police officers in critical condition. Between that and the BART shootings over New Years, I don't even know what's going on anymore.
