THE BLUEST EYE

welcome to my life of walking overzealous pitbulls

Whenever I need a good read, I can count on Toni Morrison. I stole a copy of "The Bluest Eye" from our neighbors. I took care of their pitbull (that tried to BITE me) so now not only am I permanently scarred by pitbulls and the fact that my neighbors came back two days later than they originally said they would (and never bothered to make contact with me during this time, leading me to think they were DEAD and that I might have to raise an overly aggressive pitbull), I also came away from the experience with a new Morrison read.

The thing about Morrison is that no story is ever simple. Multiple perspectives, beautiful introspection. It's so good and the wonderful thing is that you expect it, and she delievers.

currently listening to:
Cautious Man
Bruce Springsteen

postscript - I finished "Moneyball" and I think you should just read the Wikipedia entry instead of reading the whole book.

postscript II - concurrently (don't you LOVE that word?? it's fabulous) reading Carver's "Where I'm Calling From." Jesus, it's good.

Sorry to hear about the pitball incident. That's a pleasant photo of the pitbull- without the fierce teeth trying to bite you
