I recently started signing my emails with a footer signature "Remember Pluto (1930-2006)." A and I were walking on Haight in SF when we saw a t-shirt with the phrase, and I thought how clever, but how sad too, this poor former planet of ours. And this morning, I hear Neil Degrasse Tyson speaking about his new book
The Pluto Files: The Rise and Fall of America's Favorite Planet on NPR. It catalogues the "controversial" decision by astronomers and the emotional reprecussions from elementary school students especially, publishing between its pages some of these crayoned, impassionate letters from the littleones.

Truly,
C
