On
this post, I posted a present I had bought for my friend.
The present was:

"On Friendship" by the great essayist Montaigne. Which is ironic, considering I am no longer friends with this person, as of two days before his birthday. It was like, here's your present, thanks, and hey--peace out. I kid you not. This conversation happened via phone, which wouldn't be SO horrible in our post-modern age, except that the other person was also driving (back from the county jail, natch). I don't know-- maybe I should just stop dating people who own cell phones. It doesn't seem to bode well with me. I suppose I should be thankful I'm not Oppenheimer, that I am not living during the Cold War and was not instrumental in basically instigating the arms race with the Soviets. You know, it could be worse. Except everything from Oppie's memoir sounds so eerily relevant to our current state of nation.
And I lost my cell phone, bought a new one (since I have a job interview in the morning, it was imperative to have a number to be reached at!!), and then came home to find two emails (one from Claire) telling me someone had found my cell phone. ARGH!!
People, it's just been a bad, bad, week. I need a hug!
Good thing I went on YouTube to watch Nigella Express (since I no longer receive the Food Network) and made a batch of her Totally Chocolate, Chocolate Chip Cookies. You can find it

If you like meandering introspection try Nicholson Baker, a male pov, but equally intoxicating. BTW this is Peter. I went to dinner with you this past Saturday. We had curry. It was lackluster.
