ES MUSS SEIN!

It reminded me of Sophie's World, how the story starts off quite focused, a central character and its narrative, and veers off into philosophical ponderings and the abstract. Sort of like the movie Big Fish as well. I'm not going to lie and say that I didn't get lost at times, especially during Part Six, "The Grand March." I can say though that I will never look at bowler hats the same way again. Here is an interesting excerpt from Part One:

Tomas came to this conclusion: Making love with a woman and sleeping with a woman are two separate passions, not merely different but opposite. Love does not make itself felt in the desire for copulation (a desire that extends to an infinite number of women) but in the desire for shared sleep (a desire limited to one woman).
