BIGGEST FEAR IN THE LIBRARY

Okay, I just had to do a quick update. I'm currently in the library, my home for the next two weeks before finals. At Berkeley, the bookshelves can be pushed in like retractable walls. It's exactly like putting a wheel on the bookshelf and being able to move it to the left or right to get to books. One of my biggest fears is getting stuck in the aisle and have a bookshelf squish me to death.

So I'm sitting here writing an essay and I hear a "Excuse me! Please, excuse me!" I don't really pay attention, but I can hear it even though I'm maybe twenty/thirty feet away; after all, the library is quiet. But I hear it repeated, two or three times and I turn around to look. I see a friggin bookshelf moving, and I realize that the woman saying excuse me is TRAPPED in the aisle while some dumbass continues to move the bookshelf!! The guy finally stops moving the bookshelf and I see this woman limping out.

I am never going to check out any books that belong on those moving shelves.

currently listening to:
Tomorrow Tomorrow
Elliott Smith

PS The bookshelf picture I posted is not the rotating one. I'm sitting far away from them and I don't want to be creepy by taking a picture right now. Also, I don't even want to get near them because I don't want to be squished to death.

PPS Yes I do feel like a d-bag because I didn't yell at the man squishing the woman. I suck at life.

ha this was a fear of mine too in college, because in the very basement of my school library in the stacks they had the wind up wheel shelves that would collapse together to save space and open up to form aisles. So I feared someone would close me in while getting out a book for my thesis, lol.
